BIM Forum and Academic Resources
April 2, 2012 in News and Events
BIM Forum (http://bimforum.org/) is a terrific organization with the following mission (from their website): “The BIMForum’s mission is to facilitate and accelerate the adoption of building information modeling (BIM) in the AEC industry. We will lead by example and synchronize with counterparts in all sectors of the industry to jointly develop best practice for virtual design and construction (VDC). We will share our experiences and execute our goals via online forums, highly useful deliverables and practical industry conferences. We will revolutionize the building industry.”
You must join the community before you can access the full level of resources on their website, but some academic resources are open to the public, such as the following from their 2011 DC conference proceedings: http://bimforum.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/ConferenceProceedings2011.pdf . If the download takes too long, do wait for it – it’s a rich Adobe document with summaries of presentations on the topic of College and University Level BIM Curricula and Applications. The majority of the activity is on the West Coast and Texas, but perhaps we could bring some of it to our campus?
